Communal harmony awards are conferred on individuals, male or female or organizations for their outstanding contribution towards promotion of communal harmony and national integration, peace, propagating and working for the unity, and harmony between different communities, irrespective of religious, linguistic or ethnic differences and asserting the common values and cultural ties which bind or act as a unifying factor among the people of the society and observe good faith and justice towards all fellow citizens and cultivate peace and harmony with all. Harmony is a beautiful balance between mind, body, and soul measured in tender peaceful moments and complete harmony of thought, word, and deed.

donate A.V. Nagarajan, was the president of the Village Panchayat, Varanavasi, in the Walajabad block of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Nagarajan got the approval of the Gram Sabha for the resolution banning “Smoking and the use of tobacco-based products in public places”. The fireless effort of Nagarajan made Varanavasi the first Village Panchayat in the State of Tamil Nadu to have successfully implementing the Tobacco Control Act with the support of Village people. He works for the downtrodden and depressed classes of the Society. In appreciation of his exemplary services to the society Mother Teresa Charitable Trust conferred him with the “Communal Harmony Award” for the year 2012.
